I bought 42″ Full 1080p HD Plasma TV by the end of 2009, and got Sony NEX-5 as the smallest camera with 1080/60i AVCHD recording in 2010. I use Sony NEX-5 to record family videos like the wedding, the summer holidays in Hawaii, and the like. I have HDMI cable to connect the NEX-5 to Plasma TV for sharing videos at home, but I would like to join the related videos and create home movie for series.
The Mac version of PMB (Picture Motion Browser) for Sony Alpha NEX-5 is still unavailable now, and I feel lucky to find Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac and the best Mac Sony video converter for NEX-5. With only one click, the videos could be combined into one single file, keeping the original 16:9 aspect ratio for HD playback on my Panasonic Plasma TV.

Here is the quick step-by-step guide for you to convert and join AVCHD videos for home movies to play on 1080p HDTV like Plasma TV, LCD TV, LED TV.

Step 1. Load Sony NEX-5 videos to Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac.
Connect Sony Alpha NEX-5 camera to MacBook Pro with USB 2.0 cable, or use a card reader to copy and transfer the recorded videos to Apple hard drive disk. Run Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac as the fast Sony video converter on Mac Snow Leopard, and click the “Add” button to load the 1080/60i .m2ts videos, or drag and drop video footage to the application UI.

Step 2. Choose H.264 MP4 output format.
Click the “Format” option, and navigate the mouse cursor to HD Video > H.264 HD Video(*.mp4) as output format. The Mac Sony family video converter will convert NEX-5 1080/60i M2TS to MP4 with High-Def 1920×1080. You may also choose .mpg output for HDTV.

Step 3. Join Sony NEX-5 M2TS videos.
Tick the checkbox for “Merge into one file”, and the M2TS joiner will combine the Sony NEX-5 videos into a single file.

Step 4. Convert Panasonic HS700 videos to MP4 for Plasma TV.
Click the convert button under the preview window, and the Mac Sony NEX-5 to Plasma TV converter will start converting and joining M2TS files in full HD, and export a single .mp4 file with the original 16:9 aspect ratio.

Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac will keep the high definition (AVCHD quality) file of the original record in the MP4 output video. When the conversion is done, just put the videos to the Plasma HDTV SD memory card slot and enjoy the movie.

Tips:
If you are using Sony HDR-CX350, HDR-XR520V, HDR-CX550, HDR-SR10E, Cyber-shot DSC-TX7, DSC-HX5V or other models, you can also use the Mac Sony video converter for joining videos. You may also go to the Sony camcorder column for more information.
